A reply saying that the hospital is willing to assess further is only a starting point. Confirm the institution and department, which version of the records was reviewed, and whether the suggested next step is more remote information, an outpatient assessment, a consultation or possible admission. Next, clarify the purpose and likely sequence of the first visit: what may happen, whether fasting or medication changes are required, which tests might be repeated, how many days to allow and whether a companion should attend. Then ask about timing and conditions. Is the appointment confirmed or merely a possible date? Must records, registration or payment be completed first? How long is the response valid? If a visa or flight is delayed, the hospital should reconfirm whether the original slot can be kept.

Separate costs by provider. Ask what the hospital can currently estimate and what can only be decided after examination.
